Mindful Expressionism

imageMindful Expressionism is very deep restructural work. It will include a full massage to help to relax the body and nervous system prior to the focus work on the injury or joint that needs it the most. It will include myofascial work to release the fascial layers around the muscles and then together we'll begin working on releasing the deep holding pattern with a combination of modalities. The work will help to release painful holding within the physical, mental, and emotional body. It will help to restore blood and oxygen flow to areas that it couldn't move through before due to restrictions. Due to this restoration of blood and oxygen, the area can receive a quick flush out of potentially toxic build up that could have been trapped there. The new flow of oxygen and blood will help to restore the injury site and help it along it's healing pathway.

With most bodywork, a person will need a day or two of rest and recuperation. This modality requires a little more teamwork between client and practitioner. First, is that the client remains alert and aware during the therapeutic treatment so that conversation can be had if necessary to pinpoint the area of exquisite pain to work through it. Second, the client needs to give him or herself 3-5 days of avoiding any type of strenous activity post treatment. The area that was focused on can be tender to the touch during that 3-5 days, though afterwards you should experience less holding, less pain, and increased range of motion.

This work is tremendously powerful and does wonders for frozen shoulder, TMJ disorder, and other areas of the body that have lost range of motion. I had this work done on my own shoulder and jaw and will always go back to it when I need deep restructural work for my own body.

CranioSacral (SM)

imageCranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.

Sprain/Strain Treatment

$60 per session (not to exceed 60 min)

This particular treatment works with the neuromuscular system to get the associated muscles and neurons firing again so that the body will go back to using the area in the proper way rather than recruiting other muscles to do it's job.  Muscular Energy Techniques may also be utilized to complete the process. The associated muscles may be a little sore after the treatment, so, it's important to drink plenty of water to flush excess toxins out of the body.

Deep Tissue Massage

imageDeep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Neuromuscular Therapy

imageNeuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

Pregnancy Massage

imagePregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as effleurage, petrissage, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and improved range of motion.

Chair Massage

imageIntegrative Bodywork offers to deliver chair massage to your event or workplace. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. Chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule.
